The AmeriCorps NCCC team Maple 3 has been at the Wisconsin Badger Camp since July 15, working to strengthen the camp’s activities and serve as activity directors.

Due to the nature of the camp, the staff is constantly occupied by giving campers the best experience possible. The NCCC team of 11 has been brought in to revitalize the camp’s roster of activities for the campers by coming up with nearly 80 new programs and counting. Members will take over facilitation of the activities for their final week of the project.

The team is also building several instruments, such as a PVC pipe organ and xylophones, for the camp’s music program area. The instruments are expected to provide the campers enjoyment for years to come.

The Wisconsin Badger Camp is a one to two week getaway for people of all ages with cognitive and physical disabilities. Each week the camp holds events for 100 campers at a time and offers them a chance to explore and enjoy life in a way not always available in everyday society.
