Et cetera : NCCC’s Maple 6 sets up a Haunted House for a Good Cause in the Black Hills

For the last project of their service year, AmeriCorps NCCC (National Civilian Community Corps) team Maple 6 is serving with Black Hills Works in Rapid City, S.D. During the team’s two week stay, they are setting up and operating the annual Black Hills Works Haunted House. The admission price of the haunted house is a can of food, which will then be donated to the local food bank.

From painting signs to decorating the haunted house, Maple 6 has hit the ground running and gotten in tune with their creative side in preparing for this event. Team members are excited to see the community at large enjoy all the hard work they put into setting up this event. Maple 6 members are also looking forward to giving a good scare to those who come and support this event!

Other objectives the team has for this project are based on enhancing services to the clients of Black Hills Works by providing more individual attention and experiences in the different areas offered, including art and fitness. Maple 6 is looking forward to bringing this year to a close with a fun project that has a positive impact on the community they are serving.

As a private, non-profit organization, Black Hills Works serves individuals with disabilities in offering a variety of services such as evaluation, assessment, social and recreational activities, transportation and employment, among many others.
