Dick and Leota McNeal Sailer were married on Saturday, November 2, 1963 at the Assembly of God Church in Vinton.

The couple's two children, Valerie (Dean) Close of Brandon, and Becky (Peter) Lolagne of Independence along with their 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren, will celebrate their 50th Anniversary, with a small family dinner.

Dick is retired from Jensen Trucking of Independence and Leota is a homemaker.

Dick and Leota started married life in Vinton until moving in 1979.

Their wedding day made the paper, not because of the grandness of the wedding, but because of the misadventures of the guests.

A newspaper headline reads, "Father's car runs into one driven by son" It appears that Hwy. 150 was under construction at the time. The road was gravel and my great grandfather couldn't see my grandpa turning on the detour just north of Vinton near what they called the Dudgeon Bridge.

Since that day in '63, the couple has experience an exciting, and adventure filled ride.

The couple now makes their home in Independence.

Cards may be sent to 208 12th St. NE, Independence, IA 50644
