Trent Roberts, from Cadott, Wis., is a member of Cedar 3 in NCCC’s Class 19. He arrived in Vinton on February 5, 2013, to start his 10-month service term on a team of people between the ages of 18 and 24. Cedar 3 is made up of eight people from across the country, and they are serving together in a number of service projects across the North Central Region throughout their term.

“I thought NCCC would be a unique experience to meet different people, travel, help out and take a break from normal day-to-day life,” Trent said, when asked why he joined the program.

Trent brings several skills with him to NCCC to help him be successful throughout his term with the program. He has skills in critical thinking, problem solving, information technology, photography, design, organization, and customer service. He also has experience in construction settings and operating heavy machinery.

Prior to NCCC, Trent was assembling super computer modules at Cray Inc. He graduated from University of Wisconsin Stout in May 2012 with a bachelor’s degree in graphic design. He also graduated from Cadott High School in May 2007. After finishing the program, Trent hasn’t made any concrete plans but hopes his NCCC service will guide him.

Cedar 3 just recently finished a project that ran from October 19 to November 1 with Nebraska Game & Parks Commission in Chadron, Neb. The team worked in collaboration with the Nebraska Wildlife Management Area to chainsaw, buck, drag and clear burned trees and downed brush that resulted from a wild land fire that affected the area in the summer of 2012.
