The North Eden Willing Workers met Sunday, October 4, 2015 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Vinton. 40 members and three leaders were present. Roll call was “Your Birthday”. Members lined up in order of birthday without talking.

In Old Business, members reviewed the County Award Ceremony and the recent ISU Trip. On October 2nd, 22 NEWW members and 7 adults toured the Iowa State Meat Lab and Kinesiology Lab and participated in Engineering and Human Services Department activities. The group ate at the Tea Room and stopped for ice cream before heading home. We also discussed the Kacena Pumpkin Farm opening. Several members brought animals to the Farm as a petting zoo for the opening day.

In New Business, members brought ideas for the club’s winter trip and community service activities. Members voted to help harvest at the Kacena Pumpkin Farm, start a Crayon Initiative project and contact the Parks and Rec to ask about adopting a baseball diamond. The club also voted to create a float for the Homecoming parade.

Next, Officer Elections were held. The new officers are as follows: President – Jonathon Kreutner, Vice President – Alex Pladsen, Treasurer – Samantha Walton, Secretary – Carli Lang, Photographers – Lydia Radeke and Weston Bierschenk, Reporter – Sarah Kreutner, Historians – Kate Hyland, Jenna Pattee, and Zena Aragon, Birthday Officers – Ashlie Meyer and Morgan Lang, Recreation Officers – Jesse Pladsen and Bryce Radeke. Officers will be installed at the November meeting.

Four members gave presentations. Alex Pladsen taught the club to tie a tie. Jesse Pladsen showed the club how to make a perspective drawing. Faith Pladsen created a tasty apple snack. Lauren Upmeyer demonstrated shot put. The meeting was adjourned and snacks were served by the Pladsen, Kurth and Upmeyer families.

 There will be an Officer Training workshop Sunday, October 25th, from 2-4 p.m., at the Vinton Pizza Ranch. The next club meeting will be held Sunday, Nov. 1, 5:00 p.m., at St. Mary’s in Vinton.
