The Collateral Risk Network (CRN) made a special announcement and it is exciting news for our company. Chief Appraiser, Alan Hummel, has been named the2017 Valuation Visionary!

About the Award

Established in 2011, the Valuation Visionary Award annually recognizes one collateral valuation professional who has demonstrated outstanding leadership, innovation, and professionalism. Winners are nominated by their peers within the CRN and are presented with the Valuation Visionary Award at the annual Valuation Expo.

The CRN and Industry Leadership

The CRNis a group of dedicated chief appraisers, collateral risk managers, regulators, and valuation experts from lending institutions, Wall Street, the GSEs, VA, FHA, appraisal firms, sole proprietor appraisers, and appraisal management companies, who are focused on resolving the many challenges facing the appraisal profession. These collateral valuation stakeholders engage in open dialogue to find solutions, provide thought leadership, and act as counsel to each other and to the profession.

Alan Hummel: Valuation Visionary

As our Chief Appraiser, Alan Hummel has exemplified everything the CRN stands for. He has been the driving force behind a great many of the improvements and innovations we implemented at Forsythe Appraisals and he has been a champion in the use of technology and data to effect positive change on the speed, efficiency, and quality of residential appraisals. He developed and implemented our appraiser training programs and quality control initiatives, and recently took over leadership of the entire First American Mortgage Solutions AMC operation based in St. Paul, MN and Cleveland Ohio.

For more than 30 years, Alan has been a leader in the industry. He has served as the National President of the Appraisal Institute and on the board of trustees of The Appraisal Foundation, testified before the U.S. Senate and the U.S. House of Representatives on appraisal issues, and continues to be invited to speak nationwide to banking associations and numerous real estate industry groups on valuation trends and standards of practice. As an approved instructor for the Appraisal Institute and an Appraisal Qualifications Board certified USPAP instructor, Alan has provided learning opportunities and passed along his vast wealth of knowledge to innumerable valuation professionals throughout the country.

That his peers have awarded him the 2017 Valuation Visionary Award is a great honor. But for those of us who have known and worked with him over the years, it comes as no surprise whatsoever. Alan is the second consecutive winner from First American Mortgage Solutions, joining 2016 Valuation Visionary, George Opelka from ACI.

Other notable past winners include Jeff Bradford and Mark Linne' of Bradford Technologies, Tony Pistilli from U.S. Bank, and Rick Langdon from Wells Fargo. Alan will be formally presented with the award at the Valuation Expo in Orlando next March.

Please join me in congratulating Alan on being named the 2017 Valuation Visionary!
