Bill Ervin threw out a first pitch. Ann Lent gave the official announcement to "Play Ball." Several other Vinton residents, mostly children, participated in the annual Vinton Night at Veterans Stadium. Vinton also shared the evening with Independence and the Eastern Iowa Honor Flight. The special jerseys worn by the Kernels that night were sold in a silent auction to raise money for futur flights.
