Name: Jamie Thompson

Hometown: Oak Park, Ill.

Jamie is serving as a member of the NCCC FEMA Corps team Hickory 3 at the Vinton Campus. She chose to participate in AmeriCorps NCCC FEMA Corps because she felt that it was important to do some significant volunteer work and explore the country before settling into graduate school or a full-time job.

Jamie graduated from Oak Park and River Forest High School in 2008 and St. Mary's College of Maryland in May 2012 with a bachelor’s degree in Political Science with minors in Economics and Asian Studies. After her service term ends she hopes to either attend graduate school or teach English in Korea or Japan.

Jamie says that she brings a vast range of skills and experiences to the NCCC FEMA Corps program. For example, she plays viola and rugby, and has spent the past six summers as a lifeguard. She is looking forward to gaining new skills and experiences this year in NCCC FEMA Corps.
