Snow-making weather: Below-zero temps inspire water experiments

Randy Scheel and his family demonstrated how quickly hot water turns into snowy precipitation during the recent arctic cold weather. While most people preferred to stay inside when the temperature was well below 0 degrees F, a few hardy souls ventured outside for a variety of reasons.

Dreadmill challenge: Vinton man running 100 miles to raise money to fight Alzheimer's

Chris Cantrell, right continues jogging towards his 100-mile goal today. He was accompanied for a while by Linn Co. Sheriff Brian Gardner. An area man who has participated in several area 5K events is currently in the middle of a two-day, 100 mile treadmill challenge to raise money for to fight Alzheimer's.
