What we're Reading: New Boy

My choice for Adventures in Bookclubbing book club was 'New Boy' by Tracy Chevalier. It is a retelling of Shakespeare's classic tragedy 'Othello.' Set in the 1970s, it takes place on an elementary school playground throughout the course of one school day.

Fans of Sally Rooney will certainly enjoy 'The Rachel Incident' by Caroline O'Donoghue, which is available on the @libby.app. I took the time to read the acknowledgements section at the end and was delighted to read that O'Donoghue is good friends with another favorite author of mine, Dolly Alderton.

What We're Watching: A Complete Unknown

This weekend I saw the new Bob Dylan biopic 'A Complete Unknown,' and to paraphrase a line in the film, it quite nearly knocked me to the ground. I loved it so much I saw it twice, and also enjoyed the live music performed at the Palace on Saturday in between shows.

I just started reading a debut Historical Fiction novel by Elizabeth O'Connor titled 'Whale Fall', about an isolated family on a Welsh island in the 1930's, and am loving O'Connor's writing style describing the wild landscape and bleak living conditions.
