About 30 people enjoyed the Center Point Historical Society's annual Harvest Potluck October 27. The program was a slide show on modern Vietnam by Paul Schantz and Jon Sholes, both of whom had recently visited the country.
Admission was a non-perishable food item for the food bank at the Freedom Foundation, a Cedar Rapids service center for veteran's in which Paul and his wife Kim are active.
The following Saturday four Historical Society members took a field trip to the African American Museum of Iowa in Cedar Rapids. Attending were Dennis and Linda Schlicht, Teresa Scheeler and Sharon Hannen.
Historical Society members also made the desserts"”as a fundraiser"”for the Center Point fire department steak supper Nov. 5. Those baking were: Teresa Scheeler, Linda Schlicht, Virginia Benson, Jeanette Elgin, Sharon Hannen and Barb Aarhus.
The last Historical Society regular meeting of 2016 is Thursday, Nov. 17, at 7 p.m. at the Depot Museum. Officers for 2017 will be elected.
