The Vinton Garden Club, a member of National Garden Clubs, Inc. District II and Central Region met on December 7th, 2016, for lunch at Vinton Family Restaurant at 11:15.
The regular meeting was then held in the meeting room at the Vinton Lutheran Home. President Fran Stueck called the meeting to order at 1 PM. Members recited the Pledge of Allegiance and the Conservation Pledge. 7 members answered roll call by " recalling their favorite childhood Christmas family tradition".
Rosie Boisen read the minutes. Minutes were approved.
Sharen Stueck presented the treasurer's report. Report approved and filed for audit.
Bills presented were approved for payment.
Unfinished business:
Members brought their gifts for the family they adopted for Christmas. This was done with the help of Mollie Norrin, student advisor at Tilford Elementary. Ted & Fran will deliver the gifts to Ms. Norrin.
The club's by-laws were reviewed and changes noted will be presented at the February 22, 2017 meeting for the final approval.
The 2017 club book ready to go print. The theme is "Planting blooms for spring-summer-fall".
New Business:
Fran noted that a gal from Harmony House, Waterloo, Iowa, will give a presentation to be held at the Benton County Conservation building at Rodgers Park, for the March meeting.
February 22, 2017 meeting will be held at Sharen's home.
Meeting adjourned on motion. Members then proceeded with their flower therapy with the residence at the Vinton Lutheran Home. In all, 60 holiday arrangements were made. Great time!
