Cedar 5 has been working at Pretty Lake Vacation Camp in Mattawan, MI since March 17. They have been completing a wide variety of tasks, including cleaning up storm damage from an ice storm about a week before their arrival at the camp and bringing a barn up to code so it can be used by the children the camp serves.

Much of the work the members of Cedar 5 have been focusing on throughout their project has been at the farm located on the property. In order for the barn to be used the team was asked to enclose the loft and the staircase leading to the loft so children could be brought into the lower level of the barn for various camp programs involving the animals that live on the property and the community garden. Corps Members have also been working in the community garden, building garden beds and a hoop house for the upcoming planting season.

They have also had a variety of tasks to do on the days when the weather has not cooperated, such as repainting the kitchen in the dining hall and reorganizing and cleaning out some of the buildings and storage facilities on the grounds.

Cedar 5 will remain at Pretty Lake Vacation Camp until April 29, when they head back to Vinton to prepare for their next project.

TS April 26, 2011, 5:32 pm I am so proud of my son and the work he is doing. I am also proud that he is able to work with a great group of young men and women. You all should be very proud of yourselves.
RS April 21, 2011, 1:11 pm Good job Cedar 5! The other projects you worked on during your \"off days\" was impressive too. I\'m sure the kids will appreciate what you\'ve done when they come to camp this summer!
