In anticipation of the release of Lily King's latest, 'Heart the Lover,' I recently reread her 2014 novel 'Euphoria.' King is an author that I trust whole-heartedly. I'll go where she leads, delighted to be along for the ride.
With 'Euphoria,' I traveled back to the 1930s with her trio of anthropologists in New Guinea, sweaty and fascinated with cultures much different than my own.
With 'Heart the Lover' I found myself on much more familiar territory. I was back on my college campus, making literary friends in my English classes, starting to create a new sense of place in the world.
If you're looking for a new author, I'd suggest checking her out. 'Euphoria' was awarded both the 2014 Kirkus Prize and the 2014 New England Book Award for Fiction and currently has 3.87/5 stars on goodreads.com. 'Heart the Lover' has 4.45/5 on goodreads.com.
Happy reading!
