Name: David Condlin
Team: Cedar 3
Hometown: Norfolk, MA
David joined NCCC because he heard of the wonderful learning experience NCCC had to offer. David was also interested in doing community service with a team and traveling to different states that he had never been before. David says he has learned how to be flexible and realized that not everyone shares the same life style as you. “I had to adjust to other people’s life styles in order to live with them” says David.
David has completed four projects: removal of invasive species in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Tornado relief in Okolona, Mississippi, Renovation a veteran’s museum in Perham, Minnesota, and flood relief in Minot, North Dakota. David said “. After performing tornado relief in Mississippi and flood relief in North Dakota, I have learned that people really do need help and it takes a whole team to make a difference.”
Currently David and his team are in Monticello, Iowa serving as camp counselors at Camp Courageous, a camp for people with disabilities. David says his favorite project so far has been performing flood relief in Minot, North Dakota. “I enjoyed this project because it was so rewarding. We did the amount of work in two days it would have taken some home owners to do in weeks. This project also made me realize how people who lost everything could still keep a positive attitude” says David.
David plans on applying to be a Team Leader for NCCC in the future. David said “I would love to do another year of service in either the Denver or Sacramento campus.”
