Name: Allison O’Shea
Team: Cedar Three
Hometown: Marietta, GA
Allison joined AmeriCorps NCCC because she thought it would be a great opportunity before graduate school. Allison says, “I’ve learned how hard I can push myself under strenuous conditions. I have also learned a handful of valuable skills throughout my term in NCCC, as well as working in a team based environment.”
Allison has served on five projects so far: Milwaukee, WI removing invasive species; Okolona, MS assisting with disaster relief efforts; Perham, MN renovating a veteran’s museum; Minot, ND assisting with flood relief efforts; and currently she is serving a camp counselor in Monticello, IA. Allison says, “My favorite project was Milwaukee, WI. I was able to work outside in a dozen beautiful parks. I was also lucky enough to spend time with my family who lives in Milwaukee.”
Allison plans to return to Atlanta and hopefully find a job in the non-profit sector before returning to school to get her Masters in Social Work after completing NCCC in November.
