Emma is currently serving as a member of Oak 2 with the AmeriCorps NCCC at the Vinton Campus. Emma decided to join NCCC after meeting a team of corps members while working on a Habitat for Humanity site in Denver. She wanted the chance to experience something outside of her comfort zone as well as make a difference in a part of the country she has never seen before.
Emma graduated from Arlington Catholic High School in 2007 and Suffolk University in 2011 with a BS/BA in Marketing. After her term of service, Emma plans on looking for a job in Sports Marketing or Event Planning.
Prior to NCCC, Emma worked in the Communications department of a Biopharmaceutical company in in Cambridge, Massachusetts. She also ran teen programs at a youth center and interned for a charity run sponsored by Boston Red Sox infielder, Kevin Youkilis.
Emma and her team are currently serving in Cedar Rapids, Iowa with the Science Station. Oak 2 is assisting teachers with experiential learning at a science based summer camp program. Before this project Oak 2 was in Dodgeville, Wis. working with the Friendship Center. They removed invasive species and assisted with facilities maintenance, trail maintenance and trail construction.
