Katie is serving as a member of the NCCC FEMA Corps team Spruce 4 at the Vinton Campus. She chose to participate in AmeriCorps NCCC FEMA Corps because she wanted to give back to her country while getting to travel and experience a different part of America.
Katie graduated from Livingston High School in 2008 and Loyola University Maryland in 2012 with a bachelor’s degree in history and a minor in studio arts. She is currently uncertain about what her path will be after service but is examining the possibility of attending graduate school or law school.
During Katie’s junior year of college she studied abroad in Leuven, Belgium. As part of this experience she lived in an international dorm where she met and befriended people from all over the world while studying Flemish and Dutch cultures. She says that this experience exposed her to different cultures and sparked her passion for travel.
