Let’s get Fired-Up - Farm Bureau to hold Annual Cookout Contest

After a one-year hiatus due to the pandemic, the Benton County Farm Bureau is coming in HOT and ready to hold its 13th Annual Cookout Contest. The Cookout Contest is [st] for Saturday, June 26 at the fairgrounds in Vinton and will be held in conjunction with other Benton County Fair activities. There is no cost to enter the contest, although pre-registration is requested.

FUNDS AND FUN AT CP FRIENDS BOOK SALE

The Center Point Friends of the Library Book Sale, June 11 and 12, felt like just what the doctor ordered after being canceled-along with all the other Friends activities-last year because of the pandemic.A lavish number of lovely volunteers came to help [st] up, run, and clean up the book sale. They included high school students Logan Keller, Gracie Hickey, Shelby Channel, Cassie Davis and Christopher Sherman; community volunteers Cami Kapayou, Erin Gauger, Vicki Harger, Rick Hannen, Rob Bowen and Mary Behrens; and Friends members Julie Stephens, Kim Bowen, Becky Jones, Ginny Luchauer, Carolyn Roseberry, Vicki Thompson Sharon Hannen, and Kim Schantz.

Finally, it will turn North on 4th and end at the corner of 4th and 1st by Michael & Dowd.The route will be a little different this year, but let's have a little fun and enjoy the ride!The parade will start at 5:00 pmFloats begin lining up in Tilford Elem.

Early Arts Study Club to meet

Early Arts Study Club will meet Monday, June 21, at 1:30 PM, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Vinton, with Nancy Lausar, hostess. Claudette Alpers will present the program on Clocks and Watches.

Tractorcade to make its way through parts of Benton County Saturday, June 19

If anyone interested in riding along in a Tractorcade, Saturday, June 19, is welcome to meet up with drivers and riders at the Oak Grove Church, meeting at 8:30 a.m. and taking off promptly at 9:00 a.m.The tractors will go through Vinton, Urbana, Center Point, Toddville and Palo and finish back at the church. The only requirement is that your tractor must be able to travel at 13 mph.

SILOS & SMOKESTACK HOSTING COLORING CONTEST FOR KIDS

Silos & Smokestacks National Heritage Area (SSNHA) is hosting a coloring contest for kids up to age 12. The coloring contest, in conjunction with Silos & Smokestacks 25th Anniversary, celebrates agriculture heritage, the agriculture industry and sites and attractions throughout the heritage area.Contestants can choose from eight different agriculture coloring sheets.
