6th-8th Grade students invited to Compete in Patriot's Pen Essay Contest

The Smith-Geater Post 8884 and Auxiliary will be holding their annual Patriot's Pen Youth Essay Competition. Any Middle school students in grades 6th-8th, from the area, are eligible to enter the contest. There is an opportunity to win cash prizes into thousands of dollars in national awards. The Patriot's Pen writing contest began in 1995 as a way to encourage young people to learn about and write about American history.

Can Drive in Shellsburg to benefit Canton-Benton-Shellburg Volunteer Fire Dept.

I will be hosting a can drive Saturday, August 1st from 8 am to noon. All empty cans and plastic bottle bags will go to the can shed. All raised funds will be donated to the Canton-Benton-Shellsburg Volunteer Fire Department new fire station fund.Place: USA Communications parking lotTime: 8am-noonDate: August 1stReason: New fire station fundWe all have bags of cans in the garage or behind the shed.

VINTON-SHELLSBURG CSD SURPLUS ITEMS SALE

There will be a surplus sale on August 6th, 11:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. in the Auto shop behind the Middle School.The district has numerous miscellaneous items for sale including a power washer, 7-ton truck frame hoist, metal/wood teacher desks, student desks & chairs, bookcases, wood cupboards, filing cabinets, computer tables, projector screens, carts w/ wheels, computer carts, wooden doors, and lots of other miscellaneous.

8th Annual Party in Pink 5K Run/Walk July 31, 2020

Vinton-Shellsburg to hold Zoom & in person Mtgs about 2020-21 school year

Vinton-Shellsburg will be holding a Zoom session concerning the upcoming school year which is set to begin on August 24.  There will be a question and answer time as part of this meeting. Grillin' on the Mountain with the Cedar-Mt. Auburn Fire Department

On Friday evening, July 17, the Cedar-Mt. Auburn Fire Department will be holding a freewill offering fundraiser at the Legion Hall in Mt. Auburn. Serving will run from 5-8:00 p.m. The meal will include grilled hamburgers and hot dogs and all the fixings as well as, french fries, potato salad, coleslaw, baked beans, a beverage and cookies.Proceeds from the event will go toward a truck and equipment.
