Red Cedar Shooters to hold Chili Supper

The Red Cedar Shooters will hold a Chili Supper on Saturday, February 22nd from 4-7 p.m. at the Isaac Walton League, 5667 24th Ave. Dr. in Vinton. $6 for all you can eat, ages 5 and under are Free.There will be silent auction items donated by Theisens and Palo Outdoor. Raffles include a Mossberg 500 donated by Tactical Creations and  Ruger 450 Bushmaster donated by Whitetail.

Daddy/Daughter Date Night February 8th

There will be a Daddy/Daughter Date Night on Saturday, February 8th from 4-6 p.m. at the Vinton Skate Center. Fathers, daughters, grandfathers, granddaughters, uncles and nieces are all invited to enjoy an evening of fun, music, dancing and refreshments. V-S Band Soup Supper/Pink Night TONIGHT

The Vinton-Shellsburg Band Department’s Annual Soup Supper  will be held tonight, Friday, January 31sr!Come grab a bowl of Chili, Chicken Noodle Soup and pie for $6, and come back for seconds (and thirds)! Killers of the Flower Moon the book of the month for the February Book Club

Did you know....that there are active book clubs meeting at the Library? In February both book groups are reading Killers of the Flower Moon. The groups meet on the 3rd Monday of February at 10 am and the 4th Monday at 6 pm. The library has copies of the book to check out. This particular book is a nonfiction book about the Osage Native Americans, oil and their land, murder and the FBI.

Celebration Saturday Coming in August

Mark your calendar!Celebration Saturday will be held on August 15, 2020. Hosted by Vinton Unlimited, there will by music again by 5 Second Rule and Standing Hampton.The event will be held in Celebration park. The park will open at 4:30 p.m. with the local bands taking the stage. Grab a bite to eat from local food vendors or stop at the beer tent which will be available for those 21 and older.

Tenderloin Dinner at Legion

The George G. Luckey Post 57 in Vinton will hold a Tenderloin Dinner on Thursday, January 23 beginning at 5:00 p.m. and running until 7:00 p.m.

Garrison Lions Club to host Soup Supper

The Garrison Lions Club will be hosting its first-ever Soup Supper to raise money for the various projects throughout the year. The supper will be held on Saturday, February 29, 2020, from 5 PM – 7 PM at the Garrison Fire Department. The Fire Department is located at 205 S. Sycamore Ave. Garrison. 

AmeriCorps NCCC is Getting Ready for “Pack The Dome” on MLK Day

By: Angela Sarrels Martin Luther King Jr. National Day of Service is just around the corner, on January 20, and AmeriCorps NCCC team leaders and others are getting ready to serve at the “Pack The Dome” event in the UNI-Dome. The Northeast Iowa Food Bank is partnering with John Deere, the University of Northern Iowa’s Office of Community Engagement, Service and Leadership Council, Panther Pantry, and the Volunteer Center of the Cedar Valley to host the Cedar Valley’s largest volunteer event of the year.
