VS band plans spaghetti supper, Thursday
On Thursday, December 20, during the double header Girls/Boys basketball game against Williamsburg, the VS Band will serve a spaghetti dinner from 5-8 p.m. The menu will include: Salad, spaghetti, garlic bread and dessert.
It’s a free will donation to help support the band members with their trip to New York City in June 2019.
Garrison United Methodist Church Announces Christmas Services
Pastor Annette K. Ruhs Kruse will be holding services at Garrison United Methodist Church over the Christmas season. The following is the Christmas service schedule.
December 23 – 8:15 a.m.
December 24 – Christmas Eve Candlelight Service 5:30 p.m.
Bear Creek holds Open House
The Bear Creek Church held and open house from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
The Bear Creek Church is located next to the Bear Creek Cemetery on County Road V-71/Brandon Blacktop, about 3 1/2 miles from either south of Brandon or north of Hwy. 150.
The committee in charge holds various fund raising events to preserve the church building. American Legion Fish Fry TONIGHT
The American Legion will hold a Fish Fry tonight from 5-7 p.m.
The Legion is located at 105 N. R Avenue in Vinton.

Vinton-Shellsburg MS& HS choirs to present the Holiday Choral Extravaganza
On Monday, December 17, the Vinton-Shellsburg Middle School & High School choirs will be joining forces for a Holiday Choral Extravaganza.
The concert will feature all choirs in the VSCSD performing many festive favorites.
The high school Chamber Choir has already been out and around our community spreading holiday cheer and we hope you'll join us for a whole evening dedicated to it!

FARMERS BANK CHRISTMAS OPEN HOUSE UNDER WAY TODAY
Santa will be at Farmers Savings Bank from 2-5 p.m. today as part of the bank’s annual Holiday Open House.
In the “Spirit of Giving”, FSB will be giving away a total of $225 in VU bucks, and will also donate $2 to a church designated by each person who signs up.
The open house continues until 5:30 p.m. with coffee, punch, treats and holiday cheer! Everyone is invited.
Riverbottom Ramblers to Perform at Farmers Mercantile December 9th
The Riverbottom Ramblers will perform at Farmers Mercantile Hall in Garrison, on Sunday, December 9th from 2:00 pm to 4:30 pm. Farmers Mercantile Hall is located at 100 West Main St. in Garrison.
The Riverbottom Ramblers feature traditional and contemporary bluegrass along with a blend of folk, Americana and vintage country. The band consists of Barb Horak on acoustic bass, Don Horak on guitar, Dean Schade on banjo, Mike Mass on dobro, Ursula Williams on fiddle and James Horak on mandolin.
