On the Cedar presentation at The Depot Museum in Center Point

On Sunday, July 21, 2:00 p.m. at the Depot Museum, a presentation will be shared entitled, “On the Cedar.” The talk is about the history and natural history of the Cedar River in Benton and Linn counties by Walker farmer and arrowhead collector Mark Boddicker. The presentation is free and all are welcome to attend.This year’s Historical Society theme is Natural History.

Party in Pink event to benefit Gifts of Hope

We are pleased to have this community fundraiser as part of our Party in the Park celebration! There's still time to be a part of the 12th Annual Party in Pink Event for Gifts of Hope on Friday, June 28 in Riverside Park, Vinton, IA! Support your friends and neighbors with early breast cancer detection & treatment by participating in this year’s race.

CAR SHOW JULY 7th AT CENTER POINT DEPOT MUSEUM

The Center Point Historical Society is sponsoring a "Show and Shine" Sunday, July 7, from 2 to 5:00 p.m. at the Depot Museum parking lot, 700 E. Washington. "Pet" cars of all varieties and vintages are invited to come show off at the free gathering.The Museum will also be open to explore free of charge. This year's theme is Natural History and special displays include insects, butterflies, arrowheads, rocks and fossils.

On Saturday, June 15, there will be two events held in Dysart.The Dysart Development Corporation (DDC) will be sponsoring the 12th Annual Back Roads Vintage Market, from 9am-2pm on Main Street in Dysart. The 12th annual vintage, antique, hand-made, re-purposed, and vintage-inspired market is filled with one of a kind things, big or small, all made, refurbished or reimagined from local vendors.

Blackhawk County Sheriff Tony Thompson, author of the book, "Anyplace But Here," will be speaking at the Vinton Public Library on Thursday, June 13, 2024 at 6:00 p.m. The library is located at 510 2nd Ave., in Vinton.Join us as Sheriff Thompson speaks with us about his book, "Anyplace But Here: The Uncomfortable Convergence Between Mental Illness and the Criminal Justice System.

Food for Thought: June 18-August 6

Food for Thought is a program that will only be available for a few weeks this summer at the Vinton Public Library.
