Community Quilt Project - Through February 1st, 2025

To encourage a sense of community and creativity, our library is holding a community quilt project. The blocks will be assembled into a finished quilt that will be auctioned off in the Spring/Summer of 2025. The proceeds from the auction will benefit future programming at the Vinton Public Library. We hope the project appeals to beginning quilters, experienced quilters, and everyone in between.

It's Gingerbread House Contest Time!

Community Book Club discussion of 'The Frozen River' by Ariel Lawhon

Join us for our monthly Community Book Club for adults. This month we are discussing 'The Frozen River' by Ariel Lawhon, a historical fiction novel based upon the diary entries of Martha Ballard. We have a limited number of copies of this month's selection at the library available for checkout. We will be meeting Saturday, December 14, 2024 at 9:15 a.

Experience the Magic of Christmas at the Tannenbaum Forest!

November 29-December 22, each Friday to Sunday, get ready to immerse yourself in the holiday spirit at the Amana Colonies' Tannenbaum Forest. This enchanting Christmas tradition transforms the Festhalle Barn into a winter wonderland brimming with holiday cheer. Marvel at over 80 unique Christmas trees, each thoughtfully decorated by local businesses, organization, families and groups.

Open Craft Night/Gift wrapping night at the Library

Our Open Craft Night will be a night of crafting and gift wrapping. Materials will be provided. Bring your gifts to wrap! We will also be making button ornaments while supplies last. This event is for adults, children ages 12 and younger are welcome if accompanied by an adult. Join us on Thursday, December 5, at 6:00 p.m. at the library!

'Eight Books' Winter Reading Challenge for Adults Dec. 1-Jan. 31

Santa to Visit the Vinton Public Library

Santa has scheduled a visit at the Vinton Public Library on Tuesday, December 3, 2024 at 6:00 p.m.Join Santa Claus for a special Storytime and make a puzzle craft while you're there. Of course there will be a yummy cookie treat to enjoy as well!The library is located at 510 2nd Ave. in Vinton.

Iowa Equestrian Center to Host 3rd Annual Deck the Stalls Holiday Event Dec. 15

 Kirkwood Community College’s Iowa Equestrian Center will host the third annual Deck the Stalls event on Sunday, Dec. 15, from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.The family-friendly experience will feature activities for people of all ages. Attendees will be able to enjoy horse and pony rides, farm animals, a mechanical bull, vendors, a shopping village and a hot cocoa bar.

Cocoa and Cookies with Santa, Saturday, November 30

In an event held by the Benton County Historical Society,  Santa will be at the Vinton Train Depot.Join Us for a Festive Day with Santa on Saturday, November 30, 2024 from 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM. Bring the whole family for a day of holiday cheer!
