Vinton Fire Department Spring Fish Fry March 25

Punxsutawney Phil may have proclaimed 6 more weeks of winter but the Powers That Be of the VFD Fish Fry Committee made the following proclamation for all the land to hear: "Hear Ye Hear Ye, lest we suffer through 6 more weeks of winter, find comfort in knowing that in a mere 7 weeks we request the honor of your presence at our annual VFD Spring Fish Fry Fundraiser 2022.

CP Friends Celebrate Spring: Seussian Caring with Butterfly Program March 3

Iowa jewels to be safeguarded: Great Spangled Fritillary Spring will be coming again; it will be Dr. Seuss’s birthday on March 2. There will be little live things again, and Friends of the Center Point Library will be celebrating it all with a presentation on “Attracting Butterflies” by Dennis Schlicht.The free program will be Thursday, March 3, at 7 p.m. at the Center Point Public Library.Dennis is a retired Central City and Cedar Rapids Washington high school biology teacher and a longtime Center Point Library Board member.

Shellsburg American Legion Breakfast Saturday, February 5

The Shellsburg American Legion continues to hold its Saturday morning breakfast from 8-10:00 a.m. We ask people to socially distant at the tables (families of course can sit together) and wear masks if they choose.Never forget that at every minute of every day, there are members of our Armed Forces in harm's way and we need to pray for their safety and return home soonWe appreciate the past support for all the community does for the American Legion.

FFA to hold Spaghetti Supper February 4th 5-8 p.m

The Vinton-Shellsburg FFA Chapter will be holding a free-will donation, dine in or grab-and-go spaghetti dinner on Friday, February 4th from 5-8 P.M. Enter the school through the activities entrance to access the Commons. This is a perfect change to enjoy a whole meal while you're at the Boys Basketball Game against Benton Community.

Chili Cook Off Sunday, February 6

AMERICAN LEGION RIDERS - POST 166 will host a Chili Cook Off on Sunday, February 6, from 12-3:00 p.m. with registration beginning at 11:00 a.m.To enter, bring a crockpot full of your homemade chili and enter! There is no charge to enter.The event will be held at the Pearl Street Social Club. Cost $7.00 per person.ALL proceeds will go to the Benton County Freedom Rock.

Vinton Public Library Hosts 42° North Winery February 3rd at 6 pm

The Vinton Public Library announced that they will be hosting a presentation by 42° North Winery.  Renee Greenley, Director of the Vinton Public Library said, "We are excited to partner with 42° North Winery, Benton County's first winery! Come enjoy a presentation about the Paustian's winemaking experiences and a tasting of their wine varieties.
