American Legion to hold Fish Fry Tonight

Annual Veterans Assembly to be held Monday, November 11, 9:30 a.m.

The annual Veteran's Day Assembly will be held at the Vinton-Shellsburg Middle School gymnasium. The event will be held on Monday, November 11th, 2019 beginning at 9:30 a.m. Veteran's are welcome to arrive at 8:30 a.m. for breakfast before the assembly.

Iowa Authors Series to Feature Keith Elwick

The Benton County Historic Preservation Commission will feature local centenarian, inventor and entrepreneur Keith Elwick as the next guest for their IOWA AUTHORS SERIES, at 2:30 pm this Sunday, November 10, 2019 at the Van Horne Community Center. His autobiography “AND THAT’S THE WAY IT WAS….” Explores his ancestry, upbringing and family life as well as the HAWK BILT Manufacturing story.

Twice-Loved Toy Shop seeking Donations

Bear Creek Holiday Bazaar

On Saturday, November 16, the Bear Creek Church will hold their Holiday Bazaar from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. There will be food and drinks, silent auctions, gifts and door prizes.The Bear Creek Church is located 3 1/2 miles south of Brandon on the Brandon blacktop, or 3 1/2 miles north of Highway 150 on the Brandon Blacktop.

Pourville's Great Chili Cookoff

Pourville will hold the Great Chili Cookoff on Saturday, November 16, at 4:00 p.m. Judging will be by Vinton Unlimited.The fee to enter is $20, if paid by Wednesday, November 13th at 5:00 p.m. after that the late fee is $25. There will be prizes and Trivia to follow. Bring your best chili to defend and ready to taste from 2-4:00 p.

It's not too late to get seats at the Wallace Winkie Foundation's Tea-rrific Holiday Extravaganza, being held November 16 at the Family Life Center in the First Lutheran Church, Belle Plaine. This annual fundraiser will feature fabulous tea sandwiches and sweets, bottomless cups of tea or coffee, live music, a one-woman comedic performance by former Belle Plaine educator Betty Moeller, and gift bags for all who attend, as well as lots of door prizes and a desserts-and-more auction at the end of the event.
