We invite families to get off the couch, put away the electronic games and get out and experience these adrenaline filled opportunities to experience the Iowa Outdoors in ways you may not have tried or even known existed as options.
Extreme Outdoors is a series of adventuresome, fun, challenging, exhilarating and safe outdoor recreational activities sponsored by naturalists with Buchanan, Bremer, Benton, and Chickasaw Counties. Each activity will be led by experienced professionals. Check out the Extreme Outdoors website at http://www.buchanancountyparks.com/extreme.php for additional details and registration information.
These activities are open to participants age 10 and up. Registration for each event will be separate and will be limited. Transportation to the adventure locations is generally the responsibility of the participant(s), but may be available from local CCB’s.
Zip Line Tour – August 1
10:00 a.m. – 1:00 pm
$45 per person – minimum age: 10 (Must weigh between 70-270 pounds)
Location: 11764 John F. Kennedy Road, Dubuque, IA
Wooded hillsides along the Mississippi river are the background for this elevated adventure. You’ll suit up in gear that meets the highest standards of safety while your highly trained and certified guides (who will be with us all day) tell you what to expect and how to safely navigate the course. Then, after a short hike to the first of nine ziplines, you'll clip in and fly away, at heights up to 70 feet off the ground!
What to wear: You must wear close-toed shoes. Comfortable clothes for the weather are recommended (we will continue in light rain as long as there is not lightening). Short shorts are not recommended as the harness will be uncomfortable. Long hair must be tied back and jewelry is not recommended. Insect repellant and sunscreen are recommended.
All participants will need to bring their own sack lunch and of course plenty of water to drink throughout the day. Limited transportation available from FontanaPark, Hazleton, please inquire at 319-636-2617.
