Join the Benton County Historical Society as we welcome Kathy Wilson, Director of the Granger House Museum in Marion, for an entertaining look at the changing role of American women in the 18th and 19th centuries, including what it really means to be “straight-laced”. Discover what corsets and gun clubs have in common, how the house took on new importance for our female ancestors, and why a man’s home wasn’t really his castle, but rather his wife’s!
Kathy will be serving up an assortment of fascinating insights into Victorian life that are responsible for creating many ideas about women and the home embraced by society today—this is one program you won’t want to miss!
