Events and Activities : Downton Abbey tea party for \'big girls\' set for May 9, in Center Point

At its March 4 meeting the Center Point Friends of the Library decided why should little girls get all the fun and began planning a grown up tea party. Downton Abbey, the addictive PBS TV English series, was picked as a theme.

Local caterer Kristeena Opfer is partnering with Friends for the Library fund raiser. The party will be at her Wild Thyme Tea Room in Palo at 11:30 a.m., Saturday May 9. Admission is $12 per person and, because seating is limited, reservations are required, due by May 2.

There will be a real English butler who will talk about tea tradition, live orchestral harp music, and a dainty memento of the day to take home. A tea with courses of scone, savory and sweet will be served. Guests are invited to dress as their favorite Downton character.
