Friends of the Center Point Library can't "bear" any more winter. Friends is breaking out of the winter cave with a spring jazz concert.

The free concert by Bluestone Jazz Collective is Thursday, March 23, at 6:30 p.m. in the Library Community Room. Bluestone, based in Independence, has been together since 2009 playing Blues, Dixieland, ballads and jazz standards.

Friends will spring for free refreshments for guests, too.

To keep the spring thing going, Friends is hosting free Linn County Master Gardener programs each Thursday night in April, from 6:30 to 7:30, upstairs at the Library.

April 6: "Herbs for Butterflies" by Linda Hinzman.

April 13: "Raised Beds and Square Foot Gardening" by Deb Walser.

April 20: "Build and then Grow in a Hoophouse," by Phil Pfister.

April 27: "Redefining Your Lawn," exploring ways to turn you lawn into a more relaxed, pollinator-friendly, eco-friendly mix, by Karla McGrail.
