Memorial Day Schedule
7:30-10:30 a.m.
Coffee and Rolls served at the Township Hall (Bear Creek Church)We will be taking a free-will donation to help raise money to paint and replace the roof of the church.9:00 a.m.
Bear Creek Cemetery will hold their annual Memorial Day service.
10:00 a.m.
The George G. Luckey American Legion Post in Vinton will hold a Memorial Day service at 10:00 a.m. at the legion. Pastor Brian Channel of the United Methodist Church will be speaking.
11:00 a.m.
Taps will be played at the Mt. Auburn Cemetery in observation of Memorial Day, but there will be no service.
11:30 a.m.
At 11:30 a wreath will be lowered into the Cedar River from the bridge, in honor of those buried at sea. The best place to watch this event will be from behind the Vinton Fire Station.
11:00 a. m.
The Shellsburg Legion will hold a Memorial Day service at 11:00 a.m., dedicating a new flag at the cemetery entrance and will meet back at the Legion for snacks following the ceremony.
