The Festival of Trees in Belle Plaine will showcase the artistic talents of area businesses, organizations, and families through trees they decorate for this holiday event. Visitors to the festival can bring coins to vote on their favorite tree, with the three trees getting the most votes getting gift baskets. The top prize is valued at over $375, the second at over $275, and the third at over $175.
Visitors can also bid on trees or other items that are up for auction, or just admire the creativity. They can get a chance at one of the many door prizes and enjoy free coffee or hot apple cider. They can purchase baked goods as well. And admission is free.
"We look forward to this event," says Wendi Winkie from the Wallace & Beverly Winkie Foundation, sponsor of the festival, "because we get to visit with members of the community as well as visitors to Belle Plaine. We also really like that it coincides with the Holiday Homecoming & Small Business Saturday. And 100% of proceeds from the event go to nontraditional scholarships."
The festival takes place at Hope Lodge 175-805 11th Street--in Belle Plaine on November 29, 3 pm - 7 pm, and November 30, 10 am - 8 pm. Information about who is displaying trees and about prizes is available on the foundation's website and Facebook page.
