Eastern Iowa Honor Flight is a 501C3 charity which sends World War II Veterans of the greater Cedar Rapids area, free of charge, to Washington D.C. to see the memorial built in their honor in 2004. We are dedicated to getting out as many veterans as we can as they are passing away at a rate of over 1000 per/day nationally. To date we have raised funds and sent 325 World War II veterans from the greater Cedar Rapids area to see the memorial built in honor of their service. From those who have gone on the trip, it is literally a trip of a lifetime. Many veterans do not have the physical ability or resources to make this journey. We are trying to provide that way. A fall flight has been scheduled on Sept. 13 departing The Eastern Iowa Airport. Due to the generous donation of $50,000.00 by retired Rockwell Collins engineer, Mr. Myron Wilson and his wife Esther we will be able to send an additional flight in 2011. The flight is scheduled for October 18, 2011. Myron and Esther Wilson are residents of Cedar Rapids, IA. They are involved in many volunteer activities. Mike is on the advisor to Eastern Iowa Honor flight. He is a World War II Veteran.
