Every Fall the leaves turn, and the nights get cooler.

Another sign that Fall is upon us is the annual Knights of Columbus Intellectually Disabled Fundraiser. This is more commonly known as the "Tootsie Roll Drive".

K of C members from St. Mary's church in Vinton will be outside local merchants this weekend exchanging Tootsie Rolls for donations to help the Intellectually Disabled children and adults in Benton County.

Last year the Knights raised over $1,100 through the generous donations of customers from Roy's, Fareway, and Theisen's. This year, the KC's will be outside of Fareway and Theisen's on Saturday, October 8th, and Alco and Theisen's on Sunday, October 9th.

Any donation is appreciated, and all kids will get a Tootsie Roll whether they donate anything or not. "It's a really fun weekend for us, and a great cause," K of C member Brian Larkin said. "We really appreciate Alco, Fareway and Theisen's for helping us raise money to help the Intellectually Disabled in our community."

In the past, donations have benefited The Arc of East Central Iowa Summer Day Program and the Vinton-Shellsburg Special Olympics team.
