Events and Activities : Wild edibles: Benton County Conservation plans presentation for May 9

"Wild Edibles; Dandelions & Morels," a presentation by Mike Krebill, Iowa’s "Wild Food Ambassador," will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Nature Center as he reveals ways to reduce the bitterness in dandelions and turn them into family and company pleasing food. Bring your personal sack lunch & beverage to supplement dandelion-tomato appetizers, dandelion brats, and the improbable, but delicious, dandelion root ice cream. Kids may don aprons and fix dandelion donuts. After lunch, get 50 tips to put more morels in your basket, and then join members of the Prairie States Mushroom Club on a mushroom hunt. Fee of $10/adult or $20/family of 4. Maximum of 24 participants; preregistration required by May 8th. Register by calling 319-472-4942.
