Events and Activities : Parks & Rec announces winter activities

The New Year is upon us and the Vinton Parks & Recreation Department is proud to continue offering a slate of programs and events to keep you and your family busy during these chilly months!

 

Winter Swim

The next four Sundays in January (10, 17, 24, 31) will provide people of all ages the opportunity to enjoy two hours of open swim time at the Braille School indoor pool in Vinton. Swimming will begin at 2 PM and will conclude at 4 PM. The cost of admission per person is $4.

 

Floor Hockey

This program is for youth in grades 1st-6th. The cost to register is $25 and they will meet at the Vinton Skate & Activity Center on January 16, 23, 30 and February 9, 13, 23. The deadline to register is Monday, January 11.

 

Viking Hoopsters

This basketball program is for youth in grades 1st-4th. The cost to register is $25 and they will meet at the Tilford Elementary School gym on January 14, 19, 25, 28 and February 1, 4, 8, 11. The deadline to register is Friday, January 8th.

 

Adult Pickleball League

This 2vs2 Pickleball League is open to adults ages 18+ and will meet at the Vinton Skate & Activity Center on Wednesday evenings in February and March. Teams may be all male, female or coed and the cost per team is $30. The deadline to register is Friday, January 15th.

 

Sledding Party

If there is snow, we’ll be ready to go on Saturday, January 16th for our annual Sledding Party. You bring your sleds and a group of friends and we’ll provide the hot chocolate and cookies. There is no cost to attend and the event will be held at the Vinton Sledding Hill at Riverside Park from Noon-2 PM.

 

Pajama Jam Skate Party

Dress up in your favorite comfy pajamas and head on out to the Vinton Skate & Activity Center for a fun night of skating, pajama-themed games and lots of prizes. This skate party will take place on Saturday, January 30th from 7-9 PM and the cost of admission is $4.50 per person. You’ll even be all ready for bed by the time you get home!

 

BINGO

Get your playing cards ready because the wildly popular community BINGO event will be returning once again this winter! Our first BINGO event of 2016 will be held at the Vinton Skate & Activity Center from 5-7 PM on Sunday, January 31. There is no cost to attend and prizes from a number of generous business sponsors within the community will available for the winners!
