The Eastern Iowa Honor Flight announces our next flight will be on Tuesday, September 20, 2016. There are 87 Veterans on this flight covering WWII, Korea, and Vietnam. This will be our 25th flight since we were founded. This flight is sponsored by the Cedar Rapids Gazette.
We will leave the Eastern Iowa Airport at 6:30 AM that morning. Veterans and guardians will begin checking in at 5:15 AM for processing. The day will be spent in Washington, DC touring the various memorials built and dedicated to their service and sacrifice. They will also visit Arlington National Cemetery, where they will participate in a wreath laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
Barring unexpected delays, our estimated arrival back to Cedar Rapids is at 10:05 pm that night. We invite everybody to come out and welcome home our Veterans from their trip of Honor. Parking is free. You can park in either long or short term parking. When you come into the terminal, stop at the information desk, and pick up a parking ticket. When you leave after the welcome home, present that ticket, along with the one you received when you pulled into the lot to the personnel at the exit (the exit lane for Honor Flight will be marked), and you are good to go.
Hope to see you there!
