Several local residents joined Vinton Unlimited Director Melissa Schwan and Sharon Happel of the Benton County Historical Society at the Vinton 150th celebration office (located in the Governor Sherman building on 1st Avenue) to help compile local history. The information will become part of the Sesquicentennial celebration set for late August 2019.
The participants looked at postcard with historical photos of Vinton buildings and businesses, including one that contained a hand-written note and that was postmarked in 1908.
Schwan says the committee and any interested citizens will meet again in October and November. The next two meetings will take place October 16 and November 13th from 6:30pm to 8:00pm (open house format) in the 2019 Headquarters (303 1st Ave – Governor Sherman Building).
