Come and hear about history you didn't know we had at Center Point Library, March 16.
Shell Rock author Linda Betsinger McCann is continually surprised by what we—kids, adults, and herself included—don’t know.
On Saturday, Mar. 16, at 10:30, at the Center Point Public Library, Linda will be filling in one of those blanks for us. Her free talk will be about World War II prisoner of war camps in Iowa, the subject of her latest book.
Iowa had about 25,000 prisoners—German, Italian and Japanese. They worked on farms and in factories helping with the manpower shortage caused by the war. One of the branch POW camps was at Waverly near where Linda grew up.
The talk and book signing is sponsored by Friends of the Center Point Library.
