This year and next the Center Point Historical Society’s theme is school and education. The Society’s Center Point Cemetery Walk will be like a school field trip to visit community educators and unofficial teachers from the past.
The 9th annual Walk will be at 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 15. Admission is $5. Anybody needing one should arrange for their own golf cart. In case of bad weather, the Walk will be held at the Depot Museum with projected photos of the gravesites.
Among this year’s subjects are: CP Home Ec teacher Mary Cook; Doc Liabo who was school board president during the 1938 school strike; and Bill Rhinehart who ran service stations and did community service all his life.
