Events and Activities : Garrison Fun Day to include Poker run, Kid Zone Saturday

    A totally fun and enjoyable day is in store for the Garrison Emergency Services Foundation annual “Fun Day" on Saturday, July 9.  This event is also the community’s annual celebration.

     The day begins with a Poker Run Fundraiser with Registration at the Hitchin Post at 8 AM with departure at 9 AM.  Proceeds will be donated to the Garrison Emergency Services Foundation, Survivors of Benton County and the East Central Iowa Autism Society. Entry fee is $10 per rider.  For information call Joe at 3190560-3733 or Al at 319-310-2499.Kid Zone at the park from 11 AM to 3 PM will feature a Craft & Vendor Fair, Hillbilly Bob, games, prizes and other activities.  Proceeds will benefit the Garrison Park Project hosted by the GBC Park Fund Committee.The 4th Annual Garrison Car Cruise will be held at 5 PM with registration from 2 PM to 4 PM.  Registration is $10.  This year’s cruise will add vintage fire trucks.  For more information on the car cruise contact Steve Ary at 477-8148.

     The annual dance and barbeque will once again be held at the Hitchin’ Post under a big-top tent. So rain or shine, all festivities will go on.  The pork barbeque begins at 5:30 p.m. The dance follows from 8:00 p.m. to midnight, with music provided by the live band “Silver Wood.”  Tickets are $10 for the hog roast, $5 for the dance and $15 for the dance and barbeque. 

     The featured event for this year is a $5 dice roll for a brand new Harley Davidson or $25,000 cash.  Roll; 6 dice and if the letters spell HARLEY you win!  Other prizes have been donated by the Garrison Fire Department, Hitchin’ Post, Survivors of Benton County and the East Central Iowa Autism Society.The Garrison Emergency Services Foundation Inc. is a non-profit organization serving the needs of the Garrison Fire Department, Garrison First Responders and Garrison Emergency Services Auxiliary also assist with the event.  All proceeds will be used for improvements to the Garrison Emergency Services.
