The Vinton Garden Club, member of the National Garden Clubs, Inc., Central Region, Federated Garden Clubs of Iowa, Inc. and District II met at the Fairgrounds secretaries’ office for their Nov. meeting.

President Fran Stueck called the meeting to order at 9:00 a.m.  Eight members were in attendance.  The Pledge of Allegiance and Conservation Pledge were recited.  Roll call was answered by question of “do you have any garden art”.

Secretary Joyce Bratten read the minutes from the Oct meeting.  There were no corrections so it was approved.

Treasurer Connie McClintock gave the treasurers report.  It will be filed for audit.  Cam Wood and Anne Dake agreed to do the audit.

Members are still to work on getting new members to join the club.

For Garden Therapy Members are making samples of ornaments for the nature tree at Windsor Manor, which will be on Thursday, Dec. 6 at 1:30 p.m.  Members need to attend to help.

Monthly news is put in the papers.  Pictures taken at meetings for the historians book.

Joyce gave a report out of the National Gardener on Garden myths and on Smokey Bear (only you can prevent forest fires).

Eight members, Fran Stueck, Anne Dake, Cam Wood, Connie McCormick, Luanna Hawkins, Nadine Wright, Susie Hansen and Joyce Bratten attended the Marshalltown Garden Clubs’ fall lunch and program.  The tables were beautifully decorated, then a brunch was served and a speaker from ISU gave a program with slides of the last 100 years and in the future.

Fran and Luanna attended a meeting in Van Horne with the Van Horne Garden Club to plan the flower show for the fair in 2013.  The theme will be “Yesterday and Tomorrow”.

Our Dec. meeting will be held in Dysart at the Bricklynn Cafe for lunch and a tour of the “Blacksmith Boutique” for a program on Garden Art.  We will leave Vinton at 9:30 a.m.

Members are asked to bring their mittens, hats and sweat pants for the elementary schools.

There was not more business so Fran thanked Ruby Clemens for hosting the meeting.

Fran then adjourned the meeting.

Members then made samples of the ornaments to use on Dec. 6th.

At 12 p.m. the club went to the Mexican restaurant for lunch.
