Events and Activities : CP Historical Society plans trip to Civil War exhibit at Hoover Museum

The Center Point Historical Society is organizing a field trip to see a special exhibit about Iowa in the Civil War at the Hoover Museum in West Branch on July 20.

Plans were finalized at the Society’s regular June meeting. The group will meet at the Depot Museum in Center Point at 9 a.m. Saturday, July 20, for carpooling. The public is invited to ride along. Please call Sharon Hannen, 849-1792, for more information and to get on the list.

The group also discussed work on the annual Cemetery Walk August 25 and Bob King reported on the Depot Museum security/fire protection project for which a Linn County Historic Preservation grant was received.

Sharon Hannen reported the Center Point Public Library Summer Reading Program kids visited the Depot Museum on June 20. The Civil War dress up corner and the player piano were favorites with the kids.
