The Green Granny is putting on an "upcycled" fashion show for dolls at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 1, at the Benton County Nature Center. The Green Granny is the mother of a good friend of mine.

As it is each year at Vinton-Shellsburg Middle School, Pearl Harbor Day will be observed Monday, 7 December 2015, from 12:15-1pm at VSMS LMC.  This year's theme will be the 100th anniversary of the launching of the USS Arizona and the death of Joseph Langdell back in February.

There will be a Chili Supper to raise funds to send our Veterans to Washington D.C. on the tour of a lifetime for most of them. The supper will be on Thursday, November 19th from 4:30-7:30 at the Vinton Fire Station.

Historical Race: Unique event combines local landmarks, fitness

The inaugural Total Balance Vinton Historical Chase will take place at 8 a.m. this Saturday, Nov. 21. Beginning at Total Balance on 4th Street, participants will run, walk or bike to a variety of local landmarks, where they will find both fitness challenges and questions about local history.
