Events and Activities : Help "Share the Love"� and "Fill the Plate"� for a Hungry Senior

The Heritage Area Agency on Aging is pleased to announce the return of "Share the Love/Fill the Plate"� food drive, benefiting the Heritage Regional Nutrition Program, on Saturday, November 19, 2016 at all area Fareway Food Stores and the Tipton Family Foods Store. The food drive will be from 10:00am-2:00pm. This annual event is sponsored by Fareway, Family Foods-Tipton, and Dave Wright Subaru. All donations benefit local seniors who are the most at-risk and food insecure throughout eastern Iowa. Volunteers will be distributing shopping lists with commonly needed items. Shoppers may purchase and place donations in carts or new Subaru vehicles located outside of select local stores. Donations will then be distributed and used in the production of nutritious meals to seniors who are at high nutritional risk and socially isolated in our local communities. The "Share the Love/Fill the Plate"� food drive is a local activity of the national Subaru "Share the Love"� campaign, through a local partnership with Dave Wright Subaru in Hiawatha, Iowa. Over the past eight years, Subaru and its retailers have helped the nationwide Meals on Wheels network deliver more than 1.4 MILLION MEALS to seniors in need. You can help that number grow when you buy or lease a new Subaru during the 2016 Share the Love Event (November 17 - January 3) and select Meals on Wheels America as the recipient of a $250 donation from Subaru. As a member of Meals on Wheels America, Heritage is proud to participate in the Share the Love Event to help raise critical funds needed to support our local seniors. In addition, the annual Fill the Plate telethon runs from 4:30am-10:30pm on Tuesday, November 29, 2016 on KCRG TV 9. The event will continue The Heritage Area Agency on Aging's effort to raise money in order to mitigate funding shortfalls and increase awareness and local engagement for the critical Regional Senior Nutrition Program now and into the future.
