There are two kinds of mornings in Brandon: the ones where you grab a granola bar and call it good, and the ones where the air smells like biscuits, ham, and a touch of grilling. On this special Sunday, it is the latter.
The 34th Annual Cowboy Breakfast kicks off September 21, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Brandon Area Community Center. Around 900 hungry folks are expected to wander in, lured by the promise of scrambled eggs, pancakes, fried potatoes, ham, sausage, biscuits and gravy, and enough coffee to keep a small town upright through church.
Tickets? Twelve bucks for anyone over 11 years old and five bucks for kids 4-10, and free for the ones who still think syrup is a beverage.
Everything’s cooked the way your grandpa swears food “used to taste”—over charcoal, with Dutch ovens and a pinch of patience. And if you’ve never watched biscuits come to life from scratch, brace yourself. It’s oddly thrilling—like NASCAR, but with flour.
Proceeds go right back into the community center, keeping the lights on and the doors open for another year. So come hungry, come curious, and maybe wear your “loose-fit” jeans.
