First I want to thank everyone that has been so supportive to our department during the storm damage that we received back in July. We will be dealing with a lot of the damage for some time to come but hopefully in a few years we will be back to 100% with the exception of our beautiful trees we lost in our parks and community.
It is hard to believe that summer is over and it was really a crazy few months. Now that the school year is starting I just want to share my annual plea to the community. If you get time, go out to a ball game, a play, a concert or any school activity at any level. Let our kids know that you think what they are doing is important to all of us. You don’t need to know anyone in the activity or maybe it is the student that carries your groceries to the car but take the time to appreciate our youth; it will go a long ways to make them feel better about our community.
The Vinton Farmers Market will be held through September at the Rail Road Depot and will begin on Thursdays. The market has had a great season but this is still a good time to come out and purchase your produce and baked goods. We still have either Merchants Grilling or the Benton County Cattleman cooking up each week, so stop out and get a sandwich, purchase your goodies and enjoy some great conversation with your neighbors. The week of September 1st, we will be having our market “Minute to Win It”.
We will be running a special until the end of the miniature golf season, pay for your first nine and you get your second nine holes free. There is no place else in the world that will let you play 18 holes of golf on a beautiful course for only $2.00. Bring out the whole family and have some Fun!!
