Eide Bailly LLP today released an audit report on Benton County, Iowa.
Eide Bailly LLP reported that the County had local tax revenue of $36,758,913 for the year ended June 30, 2015, which included $2,314,268 in tax credits from the state. The County forwarded $27,548,678 of the local tax revenue to the townships, school districts, cities, and other taxing bodies in the County.
The County retained $9,210,235 of the local tax revenue to finance County operations. Other
revenues included charges for service of $1,863,089, operating grants and contributions of $4,511,069, capital grants and contributions of $1,506,675, local option sales tax of $893,565, unrestricted investment earnings of $36,901, and other general revenues of $145,211.
Expenses for County operations totaled $17,963,658. Expenses included $8,678,027 for roads and transportation, $3,933,437 for public safety and legal services, and $1,969,026 for county environment and education.
