The deadline for filing for the June 7 Primary Election for county, state and federal offices has passed.
Several people filed papers for county supervisor in the past few days.
Incumbent Terry Hertle is the only Democratic candidate for the District 2 seat. Republicans who filed papers in District 2 include Kevin Halstead, Richard Primmer and Thomas Wiese. District 2 includes Vinton and most of the northern and northwest part of Benton County.
District 3 supervisor Don Frese is not seeking re-election. Democratic candidates for that office include Joan Flecksing and Lorin Potter. Republican candidates are Gary Bierschenk and Mark Zahradnik.
Other contested primaries will include the Benton County Sheriff's seat. Incumbent Randy Forsyth is retiring. GOP candidates are Ron Tippett and Vince Snyder.
And in Iowa House District 75, Democrats Dennis Mathaus and Paula Denison will compete for a spot on the November General Election ballot vs. incumbent Dawn Pettengill.
