Terry Hertle, Candidate for Benton County Supervisor

Editor's Note: This week we are running stories about all the candidates for supervisor, auditor and sheriff who will be on the ballot in next Tuesday's primary election. This profile is from Democratic supervisor candidate Terry Hertle.

Terry Hertle is a 71 year old life-long rural area farmer and farm land owner in Benton County. He has been married for fifty one years to his wife, Judi, and they have two grown children and their families. They live on the family century farm located at 6680 27th avenue between Vinton and Newhall. He is a 1962 graduate of Newhall High School.

Terry has been active all his life in community, civic and church organizations. He is a past member of the corn, soybean, cattle and pork producers associations. Also the Lions Club, Farm Bureau, WMT Farm Panel, Benton County Community Foundation for ten years, and served as president of the Benton County Extension Council for three years where he was honored with “Friends of Iowa Extension” award by the state. He served as co-chairman of the Quasquicentennial celebration for Newhall, Iowa in 2007. He has held past and present offices in St. John Lutheran Church in Newhall. He is currently serving a four year term as Benton County Supervisor in District Two.

Hertle is not without concerns for the county. As a farm land owner, he is concerned with the environment, economic growth and land use. As a property owner, he is also concerned about taxes and the county budget. Fiscally conservative, Hertle states he will be a good steward of the taxpayer's money. He will listen and work hard for ALL the citizens in making common sense decisions.
